Lyon - Fete de la lumiere, the festival of lights
Fete de la lumiere, translated as festival of lights, 8dec, in lyon – a night when people from all cities gather and enjoy the different effects of light. When night set in, it was so crowded the streets were congested and we could hardly move. We could just follow the crowd and move at an ant’s pace. Thanks to guillaume and his friend, we managed to secure a roof over our heads for that night. It was Leticia’s first time in lyon, she was very excited and took many photos. Sin went to meet her host and she joined us later, but there were so many people and drizzling some more, so we took some time before we found each other again… it seems that it will always rain at this time of the year, hmm I wonder why… ok, time for photos:

A photo that records our 5min meeting, and after that we separated haha
In fact, the itinerary was roughly drawn up for us, and we had lunch at the house… dinner was outside, but as there were so many people, we can hardly find a decent meal that is worth the money… even subway declared lack of bread! Eventually we got a kebab for 5euro! They had hot wine too, and this is very good in the freezing cold… the lights were lovely, but later then I realized from yunzhi’ s photos that we could have gone to more places which have more displays… the next morning, we went to parc de la tete d’or, and tutu, sin n I shared some “childhood jokes”, we sweared not to tell anyone else.. the return journey back to grenoble, I learnt the lyrics of Linda lemay song about the french sterotypes, we also met Jeremy on the way back to grenoble, then in the tram in grenoble, some racism striked us. In fact, it was the first time I experienced racism as serious as that in grenoble, and for a moment, I was feeling quite shocked… not knowing how to react.. it never occurred to me that my Chinese looks can trigger a dissent in the French… … guillaume told these people off, it nearly turned out into a fight.. but luckily it didnt...this is only a tiny minority of youths who were not open minded enough to accept people of different looks and cultures…I didn’t let tis affect me too much…we went to the marche de noel as normal and soon forget about this whole incident.
